About Sound Healing

Sound healing uses crystal quartz singing bowls to purposely shift the brain’s frequency to theta brainwave state to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and remind the brain it’s safe to relax.

Sound healing works through Law of Vibration and brainwave entrainment. The law of vibration states that all things and all matter vibrates. Where there is vibration, there is a frequency. Where there is a frequency, there is a pitch.

Hertz (Hz) is the unit of frequency that measures the amount of times a vibration oscillates per second. Humans can hear about 20hz to 20,000hz. We can sense vibrations that we cannot hear through how we are stimulated by our environment.

Brainwave entrainment refers to the observation that brain waves will synchronize to external stimuli, such as speech, flickering lights, music, sound, or touch. Because our brain is constantly synchronizing to our environment, our brainwaves are moving in and out of different frequency states.

Our brainwaves are affected by everything from annoying traffic noise to peaceful wildlife sounds. If brain entrainment—shifting from one frequency state to another depending on our environment—is always occurring then we are constantly changing states.

There are four different brain frequency states:

Beta (14-30hz) occurs during states of anxiety, deep focus, or concentration.

Alpha (9-13hz) is more relaxed, like during a daydream.

Theta (4-8hz) occurs right before you’ve fallen asleep or are just about to wake up.

Theta is the prime brainwave state for your parasympathetic nervous system to kick in. This lowers your heart rate and blood pressure, relaxing your breath and calming you down, which helps you counteract your nervous system and fight or flight response.

Delta (<4hz) occurs during deep sleep.
